The net+ TV box is a latest-generation set-top box that unlocks a host of innovative features through the sophisticated capabilities of the Android TV operating system. It provides effortless access to millions of video and music titles plus a host of games and apps, offering a unique, limitless experience in a single environment. It is one of the projects developed by net+ at the Swiss Digital Center in Sierre.
This TV box’s particularly intuitive, modular user interface was conceived and designed by the development teams at netplus.ch SA. Designed for simple use on a daily basis, it comes with a powerful search engine that selects the top content for each subject and organises it according to the user’s preferences. In addition, the extended search capability of the voice assistant will guide the user through any number of subject matters, including weather info, recipes, diary management, translation and many other options.
Turning the TV into a multimedia hub
The Android TV box transforms the TV screen into a fully fledged multimedia hub tailored to the tastes and moods of each user. The platform collects information from the user’s preferred streaming apps, for example. As a result, when a user interrupts their viewing of a film on Disney+ or Amazon Prime Video, a link to this content is displayed directly on their home page, alongside any programmes they are currently in the middle of watching on conventional television channels.
The main menu can be configured to accommodate the viewer’s particular interests. In addition, the suggested content displayed is tailored to their preferences and habits. When a user watches a programme in replay mode, the platform suggests similar content included in the user’s subscription, maximising the available entertainment offer.
Fan following for a particular actor
The box features all of the key functions: replay TV, pausing live TV, recording, archiving, TV guide, movie rental (VOD), subscriptions to different TV packages, and even the option to purchase a day pass to watch a Swiss championship ice hockey match!
Fan-following functionality has also been incorporated into the box. The user can sign up to follow a specific actor, filtering all relevant content in replay TV, programmes scheduled to be aired, and in our VOD offer.
Also available on a mobile app
The user of the net+ solution will find the same TV box interface and functionality on the net+ TV Mobile app. This app, which was also developed by netplus.ch SA’s teams working at the Technopôle site, is available on Android TV connected TV sets, the Apple TV box and any iOS- or Android-compatible device on the market.
